At August Optical we pride ourselves on comprehensive,
unhurried eye examinations. Our mission since 1977 is to
promote the importance of eye health through the highest
quality eye care. We specialize in thorough, affordable
eye examinations for the entire family, including
contact lenses for the difficult to fit: from bifocal
contacts to correcting astigmatism to changing eye
color. We also provide medical treatment of the eye:
including treatment of pink eye, glaucoma, dry or
allergy eyes, cataract co-management and other eye
disease care.
Meet our Doctor:
August A. Krymis, Jr. O.D. D.O.S.
T.B.A. Board Certified Optometrist
Dr. August Krymis has been providing primary eye care in
the Kalamazoo area for thirty-eight years. He attended
Michigan State University, and then the Illinois College
of Optometry in Chicago.
His degrees include:
Doctor of Optometry
Doctor of Ocular Science
Bachelor of Science
He is also board certified to treat Red Eye and Pink Eye
as well as Glaucoma and Dry Eye Evaluation. Dr. Krymis
is also involved in co-management of Laser Vision
Correction and Cataract surgery. He specializes in
bifocal and toric contact lens fitting, low vision care
and assistance with vision-related learning problems.

Our office is complemented by 69 years of combined
experience of the optical staff. These hardworking
professionals strive to provide the highest quality eye
care to each of our patients. Here are the ladies that
make the office run smoothly:
Shari
Shari is the business manager, and has teamed up with
Dr. Krymis for over 20 years. She is the office go-to
gal, knowledgeable in all the aspects of eyecare,
including contact lens fittings, progressive bifocals,
and low vision care. She is also the office coordinator
for Laser Vision Correction and our HIPAA Privacy
Officer.
Teresa
Teresa is dependable and flexible, and has been
providing eye care for over twelve years. She is the
insurance expert with vast knowledge of coverage and has
been invaluable to our office.
Alexis
Alexis has been working with Dr. Krymis for over nine
years. She is most often found assisting our Kalamazoo
office. Alexis is detail-oriented and has a talent for
dedicated follow-through service that we have treasured
over the years.
Missy
Missy has provided eye care for over nine years and is
well versed in lenses products and frame options.
We strive for results, solutions and providing value to
excel in giving the highest quality eyecare to all of
